Sales Navigator vs LinkedIn Premium: Features, Prices and Who Each Is For

Quicklead Team November 2, 2026 8 min read

Short answer: LinkedIn Premium (Career, Business, All-in-One) upgrades your normal LinkedIn profile with more InMail, profile-viewer history and a wider search. Sales Navigator is a separate prospecting app that includes Premium Business features and adds 50+ sales filters, lead lists, buyer alerts and 50 InMails a month. Pick Premium for networking, Sales Navigator for steady prospecting.

The Sales Navigator vs LinkedIn Premium choice confuses people because both are "paid LinkedIn" and both include InMail. They are built for different jobs. This comparison uses LinkedIn's own plan pages to lay out what each tier includes, what it costs, and which one fits a job seeker, a founder, a small-business owner and a sales team.

What is the difference between Sales Navigator and LinkedIn Premium?

Premium improves how you use LinkedIn.com; Sales Navigator gives you a second workspace built for finding and tracking buyers. LinkedIn states that every Sales Navigator plan includes access to Premium Business features, so Sales Navigator sits above Premium rather than beside it.

Premium comes in consumer and small-business flavors. Premium Career targets job seekers, with 5 InMails a month and LinkedIn Learning. Premium Business targets professionals growing a network or a business, with 15 InMails, a custom button on your profile and AI writing help. Premium All-in-One, aimed at small-business owners, adds 30 InMails, up to 15 daily prospect suggestions, post-boost credits and job-promotion credits.

Sales Navigator lives at its own address and has its own search, lists, alerts and inbox. It is designed for people whose job is to fill a pipeline, and its three plans (Core, Advanced, Advanced Plus) scale from one seller to a team with CRM sync.

How do Premium and Sales Navigator compare feature by feature?

The biggest gaps are search depth, InMail volume, lead management and buyer signals. Profile features are the same, because Sales Navigator inherits Premium Business.

InMail credits also accumulate differently. LinkedIn Help lists a maximum balance of 45 for Premium Business and 150 for Sales Navigator, and Premium credits cannot be used inside Sales Navigator. In both, a credit comes back when the recipient responds within 90 days.

The table also hides a difference in workflow. On Premium you search, find someone, and message them from your normal LinkedIn inbox; nothing remembers that you were interested in them. In Sales Navigator you save the person to a list, and from then on their job changes and posts show up in your alerts. For one-off outreach that difference is irrelevant. For a seller tracking 300 accounts over a quarter, it is most of the value.

How much do Sales Navigator and Premium cost?

LinkedIn's comparison page lists Premium Business from $69.99 a month, Premium All-in-One from $89.99 a month, and Sales Navigator from $119.99 a month (Core), in US dollars before tax.

Sales Navigator Advanced starts at $159.99 a month, and Advanced Plus is quoted per company. Core drops to $1,079.88 a year on annual billing, which works out to $89.99 a month, the same monthly figure LinkedIn lists for All-in-One. Premium Career is the cheapest tier; LinkedIn shows its price at checkout and it varies by region, so check your local figure. All prices may exclude VAT or GST and can change.

Compare on annual pricingIf you are weighing Premium against Sales Navigator Core, compare the annual Core price with the monthly Premium price you would actually pay. The gap is smaller than the list prices suggest. Our Sales Navigator cost breakdown has the full math.

Which one should you buy?

Match the plan to how often you look for new people to contact. Occasional outreach fits Premium; daily or weekly prospecting fits Sales Navigator.

If you are unsure, a staged path works well. Start on Premium Business, track how often you search for new prospects and how many InMails you actually send, and upgrade when you notice yourself rebuilding the same searches by hand every week. That habit is exactly what saved searches and lead lists remove. Going the other way is also fine: a seller who moves into account management and stops prospecting can drop back to Premium Business and keep the profile features.

Does Premium remove LinkedIn's search limit?

Premium Business raises it. LinkedIn Help names Premium Business, Recruiter Lite and Sales Navigator as the upgrades that increase the number of profile searches and views you get. Premium Career is not on that list.

Free accounts that search heavily for prospects hit this monthly cap, which resets at midnight Pacific time on the first of each month. LinkedIn does not show how many searches you have left. If the limit is your only pain point and you prospect lightly, Premium Business solves it for less than Sales Navigator. If you also need lists and alerts, it does not. For working within the limit on a free account, see LinkedIn lead generation without Sales Navigator.

Does either plan help you automate outreach?

No. Neither Premium nor Sales Navigator sends connection requests, follow-ups or sequences for you. Both are manual tools, and LinkedIn's User Agreement restricts third-party automation.

What a paid plan does change is how you can reach people. Premium members can switch on Open Profile, which lets anyone message them free without a connection or an InMail credit. That works in your favor as a sender: when you target paid members with Open Profile enabled, you can message them without spending credits. Quicklead detects Open Profiles automatically and works with free, Premium or Sales Navigator accounts, importing from regular LinkedIn search or a Sales Navigator search URL. Neither plan raises your connection request allowance either. LinkedIn does not publish an invitation limit, and paid and free accounts report a similar ceiling of roughly 100 invitations a week. Teams that automate should read our guidance on safe LinkedIn automation first, because any automation carries some risk to the account.

Can you have both, or switch between them?

Usually you pick one. Since Sales Navigator already includes Premium Business features, paying for both duplicates most of the Premium side.

LinkedIn says eligible subscribers can switch plans through the Admin Center, though depending on how you bought the plan you may need to cancel first. Moving from Sales Navigator down to Premium removes the sales-specific search, buyer alerts, TeamLink and CRM features. LinkedIn Help adds that InMail credits do not transfer when you upgrade and drop to zero when a subscription is canceled, so spend them before you switch.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Is Sales Navigator the same as LinkedIn Premium? No. Sales Navigator is a separate sales product that includes Premium Business features. Premium plans upgrade your standard LinkedIn experience without the sales workspace.
  2. Which LinkedIn plan gives the most InMail? Sales Navigator, with 50 credits a month on every plan. All-in-One gives 30, Premium Business 15 and Premium Career 5.
  3. Can I use Premium InMail credits in Sales Navigator? No. LinkedIn Help says Premium credits cannot be used to send InMail from Sales Navigator or Recruiter.
  4. Is Premium Business enough for B2B sales? For light, relationship-led selling, often yes. Once you need saved lead lists, job-change alerts and filters such as headcount growth, Sales Navigator is the better tool.
  5. Do both plans offer a free trial? LinkedIn offers trials on Premium and on Sales Navigator Core and Advanced to eligible members, generally those with no paid plan and no LinkedIn trial in the past year.
