Glossary

Every outbound term, in plain English

46 definitions covering LinkedIn outreach, sequences, deliverability and sales operations, without the vendor jargon.

A

A/B test

Running two message or sequence variants against each other on comparable audiences to see which produces more replies. Two rounds of testing typically lifts reply rate around 24%.

Acceptance rate

The share of connection requests that get accepted. Healthy B2B campaigns sit between 25% and 40%; below 20% usually means a targeting or profile problem, not a copy problem.

Account warm-up

Gradually increasing daily activity on a new or dormant LinkedIn account instead of starting at full volume. The single most effective way to avoid a restriction.

B

Bounce rate

For email steps, the share of messages that fail to deliver. Above 3% starts damaging sender reputation, which is why addresses should be verified before sending.

Buying intent

Observable behaviour suggesting someone is in-market, posting about a problem you solve, engaging with a competitor, or hiring for a role that implies the need.

C

Cadence

The timing and spacing of touches in a sequence. Distinct from the number of steps: the same five touches over four days and over three weeks perform very differently.

Cold outreach

Contacting someone with no prior relationship. The whole discipline is about making the first line feel like it was not cold.

Conditional branching

Sequence logic that sends prospects down different paths based on behaviour, accepted, ignored, replied, instead of one linear cadence for everyone.

Connection degree

How far someone is from you on LinkedIn: 1st (connected), 2nd (a mutual connection), 3rd (further). Messaging options change by degree.

Connection request

A LinkedIn invitation to connect, optionally with a note. Weekly limits apply per account, which is why qualifying before sending matters.

Conversion rate

The share of prospects who take the action you wanted. Define which conversion you mean, reply, meeting booked, opportunity created, because they differ by an order of magnitude.

CRM sync

Automatically writing leads, replies and campaign activity into your CRM so reps do not maintain two systems of record.

D

Daily limit

The cap on actions an account performs per day. Quicklead sets conservative defaults and ramps them; exceeding LinkedIn thresholds is the fastest route to a restriction.

Deliverability

Whether your message actually reaches the recipient. On LinkedIn this is about account standing; on email it is about domain reputation and list hygiene.

Drip campaign

A sequence of messages sent on a schedule, each conditional on the previous step. Sometimes used interchangeably with sequence.

E

Enrichment

Adding data to a contact record, verified email, company size, technology stack, beyond what the source list contained.

F

Follow-up

A subsequent touch after no response. Most replies to B2B outreach arrive on the second or third touch, which is why single-touch campaigns underperform badly.

H

Hashtag monitoring

Watching LinkedIn hashtags to find people discussing a topic, so you can reach them while the subject is live for them.

I

ICP (Ideal Customer Profile)

A description of the accounts and people most likely to buy and stay. The most under-invested asset in most outbound programmes.

ICP score

A 0-100 rating of how closely a prospect matches your ICP. Quicklead generates one for every imported lead, with a line of reasoning.

InMail

LinkedIn's paid direct-message product for reaching people you are not connected to. Normally consumes credits, except on Open Profiles.

L

Lead magnet

Something of value offered in exchange for contact details or a conversation, such as a sample lead list or a benchmark report.

Lead scoring

Ranking prospects by fit or intent so effort concentrates where conversion is highest. See also ICP score.

LinkedIn limits

The ceilings LinkedIn enforces on invitations, messages, searches and profile views. They vary by account age, Premium status and standing.

M

Multi-channel outreach

Combining LinkedIn with email, phone or other channels in one coordinated sequence rather than running them separately.

O

Open Profile

A LinkedIn Premium setting that lets any member message that person free, with no connection request and no InMail credit consumed. Around 18-25% of Premium members enable it.

Open rate

The share of messages opened. Directionally useful on email, near-meaningless on LinkedIn where nearly everything gets seen.

Outbound

Sales motion where you initiate contact, as opposed to inbound where the prospect comes to you.

P

Personalization

Tailoring a message to the specific recipient. Real personalization references something only true of them; merge tags are not personalization.

Pipeline

The set of open opportunities at each stage of your sales process, and the thing outbound exists to fill.

Post engager

Someone who liked, commented on or shared a LinkedIn post. A far warmer starting list than a static search.

Profile visit

Viewing a prospect's profile. Used as a soft warm-up step: they often notice, and your name becomes familiar before the invite lands.

Prospecting

Finding and qualifying potential customers, the work that happens before any message gets written.

R

Reply rate

The share of contacted prospects who respond. The single most honest measure of outreach quality. Industry average sits near 8%; personalized campaigns reach 30%.

S

Sales Navigator

LinkedIn's paid prospecting product with advanced filters, larger result sets and saved lead lists. Useful but not required for Quicklead.

Sequence

A defined series of automated touches, visits, likes, invites, messages, InMails, with delays and branching logic between them.

Smart inbox

A unified view of conversations across every connected account, so replies do not get stranded in individual LinkedIn inboxes.

Social selling

Building relationships and credibility on social platforms to create sales opportunities, rather than pitching cold.

Social signal

A public action indicating interest or intent, a post, comment or reaction on a relevant topic. Quicklead can auto-add engagers to a campaign.

T

TAM (Total Addressable Market)

The full set of companies and people who could plausibly buy your product. Your ICP is the slice of TAM you should actually pursue.

Template variable

A placeholder such as first name or company that fills from contact data at send time. Necessary but not sufficient for personalization.

Throttling

Deliberately slowing sending rate to stay inside platform limits and keep activity looking human.

Touch

A single interaction with a prospect, a visit, a like, an invite, a message. Most B2B campaigns need five to seven touches.

W

Warm lead

A prospect who has shown some prior signal: engaged with your content, visited your site, or been referred. Converts several times better than a cold one.

Webhook

An automated HTTP callback that fires when an event occurs, letting Quicklead push data into any system in real time.

Workspace

An isolated environment inside Quicklead with its own accounts, lists, templates and analytics, how agencies keep client data separate.
